Mike Gurule is a photographer and San Francisco Bay Area native who has a passion for creating images that celebrate his unique clients. Whether photographing a Bay Area cookbook author against the colorful backdrop of her home kitchen, a boisterous street festival in Barcelona or an inquisitive toddler, Mike brings his love of craft and spontaneity to every picture-making moment.
An award-winning photographer and seasoned digital imager, Mike applies his keen eye for color, texture and composition to each image he creates in the camera and later, on screen. He spent 10 years as a digital imager/photo retoucher at the East Bay Times/Bay Area News Group and has been taking pictures since college when he picked up his first camera. He loves creating portraits and has a passion for street photography, and is equally comfortable with commercial shoots.
When not making pictures, Mike loves spending time with his family, exploring farmers markets and the Northern California coast, and making music.
